One time I took my campers to the moon. It was a normal day at Camp Little Notch: we'd just come back from swimming, and it was an hour before dinner, and everybody wanted to do something different. Arts and Crafts? Playing in the campsite? Whatever we did, someone would be devastated. So I devised a new plan. We'd go to the moon. We scoured the camp for ingredients for a space ship (cardboard and paint, mostly) and since I had never flown a spacecraft before, I let the kids take the wheel. And you know what? We flew a rocket ship to dinner. Everybody was thrilled. I've been babysitting since I was twelve. I've made snowmen and made dinner. I've played baseball without a baseball, created a new society with dolls, taken kids to theme parks and told countless bedtime stories. As a camp counselor working at Camp Tall Read more Timbers in West Virginia and Camp Little Notch in New York, I've been certified in CPR/AED and First Aid, as well as rock climbing and belay techniques. I've led wilderness hiked and overnight canoe trips, played General in a two-day-long epic battle for all that is good in the world, taught tie-dye and creative writing and mountain boarding. When you hire a babysitter, you want someone who can be safe and spontaneous, someone creative but who respects your family's values. You've found her. I can't wait to get started.
