I am available for full-time day-time care. Most of my experience is with infants and toddlers, but I also love working with older children. With my own children, as well as children I sit for, I love outdoor activities and taking long walks and day trips, but equally enjoy reading books, helping with homework, doing puzzles, coloring, or snuggling up for a good movie. I believe in engaging and empowering children to play and explore. In my own free time, I enjoy exercise, singing, reading, writing poetry, and eating at Mexican restaurants! I have a 4 year old boy who is in preschool during the day, and a 16 month old boy in a toddler room. I understand the importance of being able to trust the person caring for your children. I am an empathetic, attentive, nurturing, honest, and patient person by nature. I can watch your child in my Read more home in Rockland, or at your own home. I love cleaning too! I have my own vehicle and a clean driving record and can provide references and background check if necessary. I am the multitasking queen, so if you have little ones, and dishes to wash, and homework to be helped with, or even a toddler in the terrible twos or threes, I can sling it. I pride myself on being what my 4 year old calls, SuperMOM. I am also SuperNanny. I believe in myself, I believe in children and their amazing ability to bring joy into the world. When working with a child I respect them as one respects another adult (as a person with thoughts, opinion, needs, wants, and feelings.) I always treat children with respect and dignity. I truly believe that every child is capable of good behavior, meeting their developmental goals, and building a strong personality, all with the right cultivation. Someone once told me that it takes a community to raise a child, and I would be happy to be a part of your child's community. I am someone who is trustworthy, dependable, happy, and careful. I am a stickler for safety and am great at making quick and well-thought out judgements. In my disciplinary tactics I use those similar to a daycare (which I have worked in) which includes positive and negative reinforcement and then redirection. I am more than happy to follow any routines at home that you do for your child, including disciplinary routines (within reason), potty training routines, homework routines, eating routines, etc. I have an Associate's Degree in Human Services, and have taken courses on child development, behavior, and psychology. I babysit and nanny.
