My name is David Kaplan, and I live in Jamaica Plain. I will be returning to school full time this coming year to finish my MBA at Boston University. I am looking for opportunities for part-time childcare that work with my school schedule. Much of my experience with children comes from the eight summers I have spent working at summer camps for kids ages 7-17. I served as an in-cabin counselor for two summers, a supervisor for three summers, and an Assistant Director for three summers. I have been a head lifeguard, responsible for supervising three lifeguards on duty and overseeing up to 100 kids in the pool at once. For the past three summers, I supervised almost 100 staff members who were responsible for 350 kids at a time. I facilitated many fun first-time experiences at camp for the kids, while dealing with all sorts of problems, from homesickness Read more to anxiety to picky eating. I have been wilderness first aid certified, lifeguard certified, and CPR certified. I also ran a variety of educational programs for kids of all ages while working at camp. Beyond my experience at camp, I was also a ski instructor for kids ages 7-11 for 7 years and a rock climbing instructor for kids ages 5-8 for a summer. My experience with very young kids comes mostly from watching my much younger half brother, who was born when I was 15. I helped with diaper changing, feeding, putting him down for naps, and coaxing him through his bedtime routine. I look forward to meeting you and your family.
