Meet Alison

My name is Alison and I have been working with children ever since I can remember! When I was probably 12 years old I started babysitting for the first time here and there. Going into 9th grade I started work at a summer camp that catered to kids 3-7 years old and my love for working with children started to blossom. All throughout high school I babysat for various families that I had met from the summer camp and family friends. Through camp I have been first aide and CPR trained but it isn't up-to-date. Would need to be renewed. I knew what I wanted to major in in college right from the get-go. I have a degree in early childhood and childhood education (birth-6th grade certification) from SUNY Cortland in Cortland, NY. I'm originally from New York. While at Cortland I worked at the day care on campus in Read more the infant room mainly as well as toddler and pre-school rooms. During my student teaching placement I worked with kindergarten and 2nd grade students and I have substituted for children of all ages. I am currently working on my Master's Degree at Lesley University in Cambridge and am working toward a degree as a Reading Specialist. I love working with children both as a babysitter and as their teacher in a school setting. A little more about myself, I'm 23 years old, moved to Massachusetts in September of 2014 to pursue my Master's Degree. I love to engage children in meaningful, creative activities where they can explore and use their imagination. Sidebar- I don't have a car and am not very comfortable driving around the city. I look forward to hopefully meeting some families soon!!
