The majority of my experience has been working with children who have special needs, however I am more than happy to sit for typically developing children and teens as well! I have been volunteering and working in the mental health field for the past 9 years and grew up in a family of educators. Long story short, I've been working in child care for the majority of my life! My specific focus has always been working with children who have special needs, specifically Autism, and complex medical conditions. I have 7 years of experience working with children with challenging behaviors and complex conditions such as epilepsy or disautonomia. I have worked with children ages 2-18 in a wide range of settings ranging from schools, hospitals, and home based therapy. I have also directed summer camps for children with a focus on making math and science fun and engaging for kids Read more on a wide range of age levels. I am certified in CPR/First Aid/AED (HCP). I have a bachelors degree in psychology, have taken several education courses over my educational career, and have received intensive training in Applied Behavior Analysis. Currently I work full time as a Lead Behavior Therapist for a private company. In the interest of being up front I want to be clear that I identify as part of the LGBT community. While I feel this has zero impact in my work with children, I understand some parents/guardians would prefer to know to know this upfront. If you are interested in knowing a little more about me: In my spare time I enjoy kayaking, rock climbing, biking, and a wide range of crafts (candle making to knitting). I have always enjoyed working with kids of all abilities and am available for occasional sitting jobs with as little as 12 hours notice.
