I have recently made a career change in order to follow my life-long dream of becoming a school teacher. I graduated from Bridgewater State University with a degree in History and minors in Secondary Education and Theater Arts. I am currently taking courses toward my Master of Arts in Teaching degree. I am available for date nights, some weeknights, weekend days and nights, and school vacations for children aged infant to middle school. Advance notice will give me the opportunity to plan a custom activity for your family. However, if you need a last minute sitter, I will do my best to make myself available. My rates are negotiable depending upon your needs. I have been caring for children of all ages since I was a teenager. I have cared for my nieces and nephews since they were babies. I have also worked as a camp counselor and substitute teacher from the kindergarten through high school grades. My favorite part of babysitting is turning an otherwise ordinary day into something special. I love to "sneak" a learning experience into the fun, such as talking a bit about the historical, cultural, and geographical background of a movie before or after sitting down to watch (you might be surprised at how much Disney is based on real people, places, and events!), or a hands-on demonstration about fractions when making a batch of cookies together. I also love to make holidays (big and small) fun and special events, with crafts, activities, songs, stories, and special meals. Outings are my favorite! We are lucky to live in an area that offers so many wonderful opportunities for fun, adventure, and learning.
