Hello my name is Amanda Ortiz and I am 18 years old. I graduated from Newton North High School in June and this spring I will be attending UMASS Lowell. In high school I participated in basketball and track and field. I was the captain of the basketball team my junior and senior year. I was also a Massachusetts Bay State All Star in both basketball and track and field. I enjoy being a part of a team and being a team leader. During the off season, I work at summer camps and clinics for younger children, I enjoy working with children of all ages and abilities. I have worked most recently at Camp Eco Bridge in Newton MA . My experience and responsibilities included supporting students academically during enrichment programs. As well as organizing and coordinating sports activities. At Eco Bridge I worked with my first young person with Read more a physical disability. I was enlightened by the experience. I focused on her strengths not her limitations. I have also been active with my young cousins. I have been volunteering in camps since since I was eleven years old.
