I'm 25 and recently moved to the Philadelphia area after three years of teaching Art and Creative Writing at an elementary school in Baltimore City, MD, working with K-5. Prior to teaching, I nannied a brother and sister who were 5 and 7 from age 16-18. They were both very athletic and artistic so I would play sports with them and escort them to practice, do art projects and crafts in addition to helping with homework, preparing meals and light housework. After their family relocated to a new city, I moved to Montreal as an au pair. I am not completely fluent in French but I have an intermediate understanding after living abroad in Southern France for a semester, and nannying for French-speaking families. Upon my return from Montreal, I started nannying for a 6 year old girl and an 18 month old boy. I started teaching at 22 for a non-profit, the Baltimore Curriculum Project, until I decided it was time for a change of pace and headed North to Philadelphia. As far as short term babysitting, for couples who were just going out for the night or weekend, I've worked with every age up until 10 years old so I've dealt with bottles, formula, changing diapers, doing homework, bedtimes, etc. I can't remember a time in my life when I didn't enjoy helping parents out with their children and I would be thrilled to start working with a new family.
