I am a 20-year-old student at Wesleyan University spending the summer in New York, New York. I have had steady babysitting jobs since I was fourteen, taught Hebrew school to first and second graders, and last summer, I was a camp counselor in charge of 13 children. Though I've worked at restaurants and performance venues, caregiving is the job that brings me the most joy. I have experience with babies and toddlers (in fact, I have two wonderful nieces and a nephew whom I frequently care for) all the way up to young teens, like the ones for whom I was a camp counselor last summer. As both a Hebrew school teacher and counselor, I received high commendations from my superiors. I was the only camp counselor to be given a perfect score on my evaluation, and was promoted in the middle of the summer due to my actions in Read more caring for a camper with special needs. That is an area about which I am particularly passionate. My brother has autism, and because of growing up with him I have experience interacting with and caring for children with different needs. For several years, I babysat for a family with three children, one of whom had autism. I was also the special caregiver for two children with autism this summer. I am confident that my experience and gentleness, patience, and compassion make me an ideal caregiver for children no matter their ages or abilities.
