My boys are (mostly) grown, and I'd like to earn some traveling money while putting my hard-won experience with kids to good use. I had my first child 25 years ago, and while I have a college degree (biology), I've spent most of that time as a stay-at-home mom managing all the aspects of life with kids. I've developed the patience of a saint while supervising thousands of playdates and sleepovers, monitoring homework and projects, cleaning up countless messes, reading about a million stories (my favorite thing still), caring for sickness and injury and making macaroni necklaces. I prefer activities to electronics but have no problem going with whatever works for your child. I have worked as a substitute teacher and I'm willing to help with homework and projects if that's needed. I did extensive babysitting before having my boys and understand that each kid has different needs and responses. I absolutely believe in treating children with respect, patience and kindness. I've found that clear expectations coupled with consistent follow-through lead to everything running pretty smoothly. I currently have a few afternoons and evenings free each week, but it isn't a fixed schedule. I'd prefer to stay in the Bethesda/Potomac area. I drive a minivan (no surprise there) and have an excellent driving record. I am willing to consider overnights.
