I have acquired experience babysitting since I was 14 years old, working with a variety of different age groups and needs. I also worked as a counselor in a day camp for 4 years during high school. The age groups I was designated to during these years ranged from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. My experience working with children grew greatly when I entered college and became a speech language pathology major. Most of my courses have focused on child development, and I have learned a lot about language enrichment games and strategies for young children. Last year, I worked as a classroom assistant in a language enrichment pre school at the University of Maryland. I worked closely with six children that each had unique speech and language delays or disorders. In addition, two of these children were diagnosed with autism. As a classroom assistant, I was responsible for initiating play Read more and communication between the children, as well as leading some of the classroom lessons and activities. After attending graduate school in Speech Language Pathology next year, I hope to work with young children and specialize in early intervention practices in the field.
