Growing up, there were always infants and children around (I have 8 nephews, ages 1 to 20 years of age), many of which I have lived with), so family is where I initially gained experience and a love of caring for children. I have cared for family members ranging from the ages of 4 months old to 13 years of age. I am knowledgeable of changing diapers, preparing bottles, and feeding infants. I am able to help older children with homework and am creative when it come to thinking of fun activities to do; I am also experienced in the kitchen. I volunteered at a day care center for two years; assisting the directors with learning activities, meal time, nap time, and field trips for children aged 5 to 12 years old. I also participated in a 3 month volunteer/mentor program for 4 and 5 years old children that were Read more about to start elementary school. In this program, my role was the "teacher" and I was in charge of creating lesson plans and activities for the children that were both fun and educating. I am in school studying Nursing and hope to specialize in Labor and Deliver or the NICU.
