I have worked for the Early Care & Education Center of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh for three years. During that time I had the opportunity to take courses on Early Childhood Education as well as on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The Center is a not-for-profit Corporation, licensed by the New York State Department of Social Services that provided care and education for around 70 children. I also have experience totaling to over three years working as a full time Nanny. I am very skilled in supervising and caring for children of all ages. Moreover, I am well versed in managing children’s day-to-day activities and preparing/serving meals. My knowledge to teach children in personal hygiene and social development has also played a pivotal role in shaping them. I am delighted to take care of the children I meet, and have a positive impact on their lives. After my Read more first year at SUNY Plattsburgh childcare center, it was very clear that I had a special bond with children that have emotional and behavioral issues. Teaching them comes naturally to me and gives me a deep sense of personal satisfaction. As a disciplinarian, coach and a tutor, I open up in this setting. Undeniably, watching children make improvements and sharing positive praise with parents are my most rewarding moments of teaching. Additionally I also have experience working with children with special needs. I have taught and helped children with ADD/ADHD and learning disabilities. My lesson planning allowed me to meet the needs of every child and my experiences have taught me the value of patience and encouragement. More importantly, I am a patient and a flexible team player, yet firm in my communications and decisions. These qualifications make me ideally suited to work in a multi-faceted environment. My experience as a child care provider as well as a tutor had allowed me to work with a diverse range of emotional, physical and cultural backgrounds. I connect well with parents. I am able to relate to all circumstances because I am rarely shocked. Rather than become emotional, I take a proactive problem solving approach. Through this strong relationship with parents, I recognize quickly the accuracy and efficacy of assessments. I am a true lifelong learner.
