My name is Kinross Obiefule and I recently graduated college with my bachelors degree in exercise science. I was able to maintain a 3.64 GPA on top of a rigorous athletic and academic schedule. I currently works as a rehabilitation technician at Johns Hopkins Hospital while awaiting acceptance into a graduate program for physical therapy. For the past 4 years I have been working at a basketball camp with kids that range from kindergarten to incoming freshmen going into high school. We taught the kids the fundamental basketball skills and ways to better their game. Every year during my basketball season we worked with special needs kids and also taught them the fundamental skills of basketball. The man in charge of the program was impressed with my ability to be able to engage their most challenging students to their easiest students. He offered me a position to help him out Read more with the kids, but I already had a lot on my plate at the time. I also participated in a program called sisters to sisters where I was able to talk to young African American ladies who were in the 6th-9th grade. We did activities with them as well as gave them advice on things they could be doing to better their lives. When a patient at work comes in with a child I usually distract them and keep them occupied while their parent is receiving therapy. If the child is the patient I usually calm them down and keep them still while the therapist can make their splint for them or come up with creative ways for them to complete their exercises.
