I am the oldest of four children, so have grown up being used to taking care of my younger siblings. This also taught me to be used to the behaviors and needs of different age groups. I love children, and deeply believe and care about every child getting loving and wholesome care. I have babysat for neighbors and friends for years. I have worked at multiple children's camps, both as a volunteer, and as a paid employee. At the Frederick Children's Chorus Camp, I was accepted as a volunteer to work with more than 30 children of different ages and abilities every day. These included young children, children with disabilities, etc. Activities included planning creative projects for the children, and teaching them basic music skills and instruments. I also work every summer at The Christian Community Summer Camp for Children. This past year, as a senior counselor, I was in Read more charge of 15 twelve year old girls. It was my job to plan out the entire day, coming up with creative activities, leading kayaking trips/other outdoor adventures. As it was a summer camp, I worked in challenging conditions without Internet, in the middle of the woods, without hot water, etc! I dealt with homesick children, and various injuries/illnesses that came up during camp. including a concussion, ear/eye infections, and fevers. In situations like these, I am extremely patient, never overwhelmed, and always put the needs of the children first! I am an extremely compassionate person, and this makes me very adept at handling delicate situations: one of the girls I was caring for had recently lost her mother, and I was able to provide a safe and warm environment for her during the three weeks that camp lasted. Overall, I have cared for many children from under one-13 I have also taken care of a wide-range of animals: cats, snakes, chickens, goats, sheep, cows, horses, fish, and various birds. I have also done housecleaning/house-sitting jobs. I am very thorough: I will never leave anything to chance, and never leave a job half done. I have a high school degree. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Music degree at The Catholic University of America. (I am a rising sophomore.) My artistic education and upbringing have endowed me with a sense of creativity that I bring to my childcare jobs. I like to avoid putting children in front of a TV, and really enjoy interacting with them, while doing artistic activities, whether that involves teaching them a skill!
