I am a healthy, active grandmother. I began babysitting at age 11, became a live-in Nanny at 17 then went on to work in industrial day care (mega centers...NOT FOR ME!) before opening my own child care homes. I am currently the business manager for our 2 family businesses, but I miss having little people in my life. I have one grandson, age 8, with whom I spent every day of his first 5 years. A perfect position for me would be 2 or 3 days a week, close to my home in Cape Elizabeth. I have a safe vehicle and a spotless driving record. I would be willing to be be background checked again (it hasn't been done since I was substitute teaching around 10 years ago) I do not currently have my infant/child first aid and CPR but would be willing to retest and update those certifications. I Read more believe life is a balance. Children are natural learners and inquisitive scientists. I am more apt to be found looking under rocks for salamanders with kids than sitting on the sofa with a TV. I am an avid cook and involve children in that as soon as I can get them standing on a chair at the counter. I have a fair rudimentary knowledge of baby sign language and believe that children can communicate WAY before they have words. In short, I love children. I always have and always will.
