My experience with children is extensive. It ranges from church nursing rooms to my own experience with my three younger siblings. Though the previous two were beneficial in their own ways, the most relevant experience that I maintain are my in-school clinical experiences that I have had the opportunity to participate while enrolled at the College of Education and Human Development previously at Eastern Kentucky University and presently at The University of Maine. Having the opportunity to complete my college experience at two different universities has presented me with a unique opportunity to interact with two very different demographics of students; one from the depths of coal mine country in Kentucky and the other in a small rural town in Maine. My untraditional college experience has blessed me with the ability to easily adapt my teaching and instruction practices based on students’ behaviors and individual learning needs. Though I have Read more only completed three and a half years of college and not the desired four, many of the courses that I have taken throughout my college career directly deal with child education. Topics covered in these classes include classroom management, special education, behavioral studies, and response to intervention (RTI). I have scored mostly A’s in these classes and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.88 and ended my previous semester with a 3.99 emphasizing the importance of my studies, which can be considered directly applicable to the position.
