I grew up in a house full of children, including a younger brother who is now seven, a niece who is now six, and another niece who will be two at the end of April 2018. I have been extremely involved in raising all three of these children from the time they were born. Besides my personal family, I have participated in long-term childcare for two children ages six months and two years, and have been in temporary babysitting positions for many children. I worked in a playschool with children between the ages of three months and three years, and I currently teach art to second graders at Wildwood Elementary in Amherst. I also have experience tutoring elementary school-aged children, including homework help. I have experience working with special needs including autism and ADHD. I certainly don't mind helping out around the house with pet care (In fact, I'm a Read more certified dog trainer), light housework like laundry, and running errands including grocery shopping, I'm also a pretty good cook if I do say so myself. I am also Child and Infant CPR/AED/First Aid certified, renewed in 2019. I am tireless, which is absolutely necessary for childcare. I have a strong work ethic, and I never back down from a challenge. I think that most behavioral issues can be solved through love, encouragement, and positivity. My sense of humor is extremely important to me, and I certainly believe that laughter is the best medicine. I am very conscious about safety, and I have figured out how to straddle the line between fun and freedom, and safety and control. I love how children think, and I love being a part of forming that in a positive and fun way. My biggest goal when working in childcare is to make the parent's day easier while also providing a fun, safe, educational, creative, accepting environment for children of all ages.
