The bulk of my working life has been spent in management. For twenty years I worked for Borders Books and Music which I loved and devoted my time to. After the corporation folded, I was lucky to become a mother and spent many happy years dedicating my time to doing this. I found more happiness in working with a young developing mind than I had ever found in my many years with books that didn't just require the selling of books but also involved hiring staff, merchandising, training as well as recommending published works to the general public. It makes sense that now I am interested in seeking work doing what I found great joy in. I always believed I learned more from a young mind than I had ever learned from research and reading and all my years in formal education. The patience required to understand a developing mind Read more and to see to their needs while helping to assist in building their skills really has allowed me to appreciate life for the miracle that it is. I believe much of child caring requires the ability to empathize and anticipate on a basic human level that as adults we too soon forget to be aware of. I also believe that the key to a happy person is a happy childhood. As well, I believe that a happy childhood is dependent on the earliest influences. I guess I believe there is nothing more important to the future of our world than providing young individuals with a good start in life. My educational years focused on English Literature, Art, and History. I have a degree in Psychology as well. I grew up in the Netherlands and returned to the US to go to school at Bard College. I have worked various other jobs in my life, one of which was market research but I found the office environment was not for me. I also worked at several libraries and for a couple different banks. I love challenge and the chance to grow through new experiences because I believe this is what keeps me young.
