I am currently a senior at Central Michigan University working towards a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. I have certified training in first aid, CPR. and AED. I have subbed in 8 different districts and counting, and I have undergone extensive training required to be a substitute teacher, on everything from blood borne pathogens to classroom safety to various health issues that can be found in children, such as diabetes. I am in the Honors program and I am majoring in Language Arts and minoring in Mathematics. I received a 4.0 this past semester and currently have a 3.7 GPA overall. I also received a 33 on my ACT in high school. I have had quite a bit of experience with children in the past. I am part of an organization on CMU's campus called the Student Michigan Education Association, and our primary purposes are to experience professional development as future Read more educators as well as to fundraise and serve our time for local Mt. Pleasant schools. During the summer, I work as a recreational assistant at Camp Dearborn in Milford, Michigan. At this full-time summer job, I spend my days planning and hosting all types of activities for kids, from sports games to crafts to talent shows. Each summer for the past two years, I have also volunteered as a camp counselor at Camp Discovery. This is a camp hosted by the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan at Sherman Lake YMCA for children who live with epilepsy and often also struggle with cerebral palsy, autism, ADD/ADHD, and/or mental illnesses. In the past, as a high schooler, I spent two years volunteering as a student teacher in the Crestwood Child Care Center in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, implementing some of my own lesson plans in the preschool classroom for high school credit.
