Betsy’s Bio In psychology, the term used to describe the slow fading of environment into preference and comfort is "habituation". For me, my environment has been one filled with children for so long that I have become thoroughly habituated to their presence. In fact, I am generally uneasy when the bustling and shuffling of little ones is removed from my everyday life. In many ways, caring for children is a comfort to me. It is a reminder of home, of my siblings, and of what my "normal" is. I have three younger siblings, and two older siblings. I was stuck in the middle. The result is a familiarity with the stages of infanthood and child development, as well as a solid grasp on the ups and downs of the teenage years. I have cared for my siblings as newborns, as toddlers, as kids, as tweens, and as teens.
