I am a stay-at-home mom for my 8 year old (soon-to-be) stepson. He spends the majority of the summer with his mother and I would love to spend my summer taking care of other little ones. I love children and have wanted to be a SAHM my entire life. I have a Masters in Social work from GVSU as a plan B in case I wasn't married or our home was unable to be sustained with one income. Luckily, my fiance was able to help make my dream come true and I left my most recent social work position last year to be at home full time. I have worked with children with developmental disabilities (0-18 years old) and youth aging out of foster care (14-18 years old) for the last few years. I have babysat throughout my teen years and have cared for children of friends and family while Read more going through school and beyond. I have experience with all ages, but my absolutely favorite ages are infants, toddlers, and early education. We're getting married in September and I would love to use my vast availability to help another family. Should the position last longer than Labor Day, I would be happy to discuss further need and availability at that time. I am CPR and First Aid trained, although my most recent 2-year certificate may have expired this year. I am willing to be recertified if needed. I have professional and personal experience caring for all ages (with and without disabilities) and I love spending my time with children. My fiance and I are very active and road-cycle regularly. I love being outdoors and we coach our son's soccer team in the fall and spring seasons. I am a big advocate for continued learning through reading, hands on activities, and summer worksheets to maintain skills. I am a very hands-on parent, loving, fun, and creative. I currently am the lead vocalist in a local cover band, love to paint, and don't mind getting my hands dirty! I am absolutely willing to attend to other tasks such as meal prep, house cleaning, laundry, taking care of pets (definite animal lover!), errands, and drop-off/pick-up for scheduled activities. I am an excellent swimmer and am able to supervise summer swimming activities with confidence. Mostly, I just enjoy children and since my son is with his mom the majority of the summer, I am more than happy to help another family by caring for theirs when needed.
