My name is Kahlynn, a little bit about myself: I grew up in a small town in a family of 5 children with my mother and step-father and enjoyed being involved in my community and school. I enjoy working on scrap books, playing volleyball, and traveling. One of my favorite movies is Dirty Dancing, shows: Melissa and Joey and Parenthood, foods: fajitas, sushi and pasta. As soon as I could I was babysitting for my neighborhood families occasionally for date nights and for my younger siblings (at times my older siblings as well =D). Soon after, I was regularly babysitting for my neighbor overnights regularly. While I was attending Mankato State University, Mankato for my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minor in Family Life Child Development and American Sign Language, I volunteered for the national volunteer initiative of AmeriCorps. My first year of service with AmeriCorps I was in a Read more Bloomington Public School (poplar Bridge) as a Minnesota Reading Corp member as a literacy tutor for children in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade with varying developmental levels in small groups and one-on-one. At times I also provided services for children in a setting 3 program with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders. This experience taught me valuable skills in behavior management. My second year of service with AmeriCorps was at a Head Start pre-school program in St Peter as a LEAP member working with underprivileged children and social-emotional deficits. I served with LEAP while I was attending Argosy University for my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology. After my 2 years of service with AmeriCorps I worked for a year as a lead teacher in an infant room at St. Peter Community Childcare Center. Once I graduated I began employment in my field at Lifespan of MN in Burnsville, as a therapist at an intensive day treatment program for children ages 5-17 with varying mental health issues. I am now looking for some part time work doing what I love, working with the youth developing the future leaders of our world. I love to do crafts and experiential learning projects with children. I am qualified to help your children develop socially and emotionally and intellectually. Looking forward to working with you and your family! Other qualifications I possess include CPR and First Aide certified, Psychological First Aid, I have completed training for Parent Aware, and I am Crisis Management qualified. P.S. My nieces and nephews love me.
