I am a Mental Health Practitioner who loves working with kids. I currently work in a program for young children with autism full time. I am available for occasional evening and/or weekend babysitting, though I am starting to book up. I am also available on a limited basis for overnight care. I have my MA in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. My BA is also in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. I have a total of 18 years experience with children (as a volunteer in a nursery, babysitter, PCA, nanny, teacher, and childcare worker). I have taken care of children 2 weeks old through teenagers, with both typical and special needs (and within this, a variety of special needs including cerebral palsy, fetal alcohol syndrome, oppositional defiant disorder, autism, Down Syndrome, and different learning disabilities among others). I am CPR and First Aid certified. I am very child-centered. I enjoy doing activities and projects or going for walks or to the park or playground with the children I care for. I am able to help older children complete homework, check it for them, and make sure it is put away and ready to go to school. I can also transport children to various activities and outings or run errands for you with the children. One of my favorite things is to take children grocery shopping and to get them engaged on age-appropriate levels. I can also assure you that you will come home to a house cleaner than when you leave--I am very aware that no one wants to come home to the stress of a big mess after having a sitter. I am also willing to do other light housekeeping (e.g., laundry, vacuuming, etc.), with the understanding that the children and their needs will always come first. If I am the type of sitter you are looking for, please feel free to contact me. I do have references available upon request.
