My name is Breanna, I am a 23 year old student attending college for Integrated Health and Healing and soon-to-be doula! Ever since I was about 13 years old I have been caring and babysitting for families. I was always the one my mom's coworkers would call when they needed a night out or extra help during the summers! I have babysat a range of different ages with all sizes of families. From toddler aged twins, to newborns, to families that have three or four children under the age of 12, as well as a baby that had cerebral palsy and required a lot of attention and medical needs. I have always loved kids and continue to watch my baby cousins whenever I get a chance. I realized from a young age that there is something so fun and joyful about being around children especially newborns, I personally believe they Read more are the most magical! (Hence why I want to become a doula, so I can provide services and help mom and baby pre/post natal.) When I turned 16 I started working in Assisted Living facilities in the kitchens and working my way up to a Lead Supervisor. The job entailed caring for residents and making sure they got great food with amazing service. It was there I learned that I truly enjoy taking care of others and getting to know people and their stories. My new realization then lead me to become a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) where I worked with people who live independently who need help with daily tasks such as bathing, running errands, cooking and cleaning. I made a really good connection with one client in particular and I am still her friend to this day! My most recent and current job has definitely been the most challenging but rewarding job I have had yet. I am a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and I serve young adults who live in a group home setting that have developmental disabilities as well as supporting individuals who live independently. This job requires a lot of patience, however, I truly enjoy being a supportive role in these individuals lives. It means a lot when they are excited to see me and I am excited to see them. It makes the job very easy. This summer my job won't be able to provide me with full time hours and I will not be attending school again until fall, I would love to get back to babysitting/nannying part time and that is why I am here! Caring for people is my calling and I truly believe that I have the patience, the experience and the personality to be a great care taker!
