Hello, my name is Alex. I am 22 and recently moved to Wilmington. My first experience with children was with my younger cousins. When I was about 13 both of my Aunts started having children. One boy and two girls. At family functions and holidays I was always designated the babysitter as I was the oldest of the kids. I can honestly say I really loved it. I had such a blast with those kids and miss them fiercely (the live in Colorado). I visited them this past Christmas and could not believe my eyes at how much they have grown up! However, my most significant babysitting experience was volunteering in the childcare at my old church. They were severely understaffed and I had extra time in my schedule (I was already a full time college student with 2 part time jobs). I had moved away from most of my Read more family and really missed being around my younger cousins (especially because it was great experience for when I have kids one day). So volunteering seemed like the perfect idea. The bible study group I volunteered for had a small group of children (2 girls aged 3, one boy aged 4, and one boy aged 6 months). I volunteered with one older lady, Nancy. It turned out to be such a great experience. Being around kids was so much fun and, for me, a great distraction from my busy life. I also volunteered for a much larger bible study several times when they were understaffed. For this one I helped out in the 2 year old room which, as you can imagine, was complete chaos (but still very fun!). Ever since I have moved to Wilmington I have really wanted to help out either volunteering or baby sitting again so when I saw this website I instantly wanted to sign up!
