Hello there! My name is Ashtyn Nicholson. I am a freshman at Lake Forest College, and I just moved here from St. Louis, Missouri. In St. Louis, I worked for Rockwood School District, at a before and after school child care program called Adventure Club (5-11 yrs old). I worked for Adventure Club from January of this year, up until late July, when I began preparing for my move to Illinois. Additionally, at home, I was the babysitter for a wonderful 5 year old boy, with special needs. I took care of Rohan through the summer, and we went to several places, such as the Science Center, Park, Restaurants, etc. I also have had experience with children at Adventure Club with special needs. These experiences have given me experience caring for children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Behavioral Disorders, ADHD, and other disabilities. I spent a few months working for the Read more YMCA as a swim instructor, where I taught classes and private lessons to a variety of children from less than 1 yrs old- 12 yrs. Lastly, I have gone on mission trips to El Salvador several times, and have experience caring for children who live in a different culture, and I am very adaptive to experiencing new things!I have a great passion for working with children, and hope to be able to continue caring for kids in my new area! I am a full-time student, so I do have a commitment to my studies in addition to working. We are not able to have a car on campus until junior year, but I am very flexible and willing to find creative or alternate ways to figure things out! I hope to find a family I can work with in my new area!
