I have spent a lifetime working with children. From babysitting for spending money while in high school, working in day cares and preschools during college, and then teaching part time in a private school for 3 years until I started homeschooling my two wonderful children. Both of my children have ADHD and I am well aware of the challenges that come with them as well as the gifts these children possess. I have homeschooled for 7 years now. I am also looking for tutoring jobs for children in grades K-8. My availability hours can be negotiable, depending on the exact circumstances of the job required. Feel free to contact me and ask! References: My references section is somewhat empty, partly due to the fact that when I did "babysitting" I was in high school and college. I also did daycare and preschool work while I was in college. I am Read more now 39 years old and wouldn't remember the contact information for those people so long ago--and I'm not sure they would remember me very well anyway! The very best reference I have is for you to meet my own two wonderful children. :) Other than raising my children, I have worked part time for three years at a Lutheran grade school: two years grades 1-2, one year grades 5-8. When I was in college I worked 3 summers at a daycare, grades K-6 and one summer at a Lutheran preschool, age 3. I served briefly as the editor in chief of The Classical Lutheran Education Journal, a publication by The Consortium for Classical and Lutheran Education. When I was in college I did take a required course in first aid and CPR. But to be perfectly honest, that was 16 years ago and I have forgotten some things, I'm sure. Informal training consisted of my reading up on child care when my own children were young. I read books like, "What to Expect the First Year" as well as magazine and internet articles on safety, nutrition, discipline, potty training, education, etc. I am open to having children dropped off at my house--in fact I would love it. I could teach another child alongside my own easily during the school day. Even toddlers can learn by listening to someone read to them, singing songs together, learning letters, numbers, shapes, etc. I have referenced the school that I worked at this year and two other years. They can vouch for my character and ability to work with children of many ages. Please call to meet me and my children if you have any questions. Thank you!
