Karen’s Bio

I am a graduate student at SLU, getting my PhD in American Studies. I have many years of experience with children ages newborn to 16, including working with multiples (I'm a fraternal twin myself) and with special needs babies and children. I have experience with food allergies (Epi-pen worthy through intolerance), and I have also cared for many preemie babies, most recently preemie twins. I especially love working with newborns and infants and am looking for a job where I can care for your baby in your home.

I'm originally from Houston, Texas, and am very family-oriented, organized, punctual, and creative. I love all pets too, and while I just have two cats now, I am familiar with tons of animals. As a student, my availability is very flexible and I'd love to work with you and your family.

Karen was our full-time nanny while she was finishing up her thesis in Houston. We have three year old twins and an 18 month old. They all have different food allergies. She worked for us Monday-Friday. Within the first week she was able to take all three on outdoor adventures, make all their meals, bathe them, and get them ready for bed ALONE! I don't like to do bathtime alone, but Karen made it look easy. She was always positive and full of energy. She's a very intelligent woman, and my children spoke differently after meeting her. They were using a much bigger vocabulary and singing all kinds of new songs. Karen is a great singer!! If she had down time, she also made a point of asking if she could help with other household chores. We were very sad to see her go and think any family would be very lucky to have her.
