I am a recent graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with degree in psychology, with minors in speech pathology, audiology, and chemistry. Also, I completed one semester of graduate school in Marriage & Family Therapy, but I am looking into pursuing a degree in an area of academia. I have an ultimate goal in instilling positive outlooks on children's lives and motivating them toward success. As far as babysitting experience, from the age of 15, I have watched my cousin's set of twins and 2 older boys. They are currently back home and doing well. I often say sometimes that I actually raised them. However, I have experiences with working with children and adolescents through volunteer work and employment opportunities. I volunteered at the DuBard School for Language Disorders in Hattiesburg, MS for over a year. In that experience I learned to handled children with different disorders with little Read more training in their areas of deficits. Also, as a counselor for the Frances A. Karnes Center for Gifted Studies, I have gained experience with working with multiple children at one time. Children of various ages come into a residential summer program from 1-3 weeks. In the position, I was responsible for sleep/wake schedules, medication reminders, filing of action reports, and building rapport with the students. I have also done research in the realm of school psychology. In this position, I have worked with teachers and parents to modify problem behaviors, and students to decrease problem behaviors. My experiences with children has stretched across many facets.
