I am 19 year old dance major at the University Of Southern Mississippi. I grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma where I was the youngest of three girls. In my spare time I was in the dance studio, taking college class, working at a local burger and craft beer restaurant, and also going to high school classes during the day. My work experience is a unique one to say the least. My first job was a certifies lifeguard for the local country club, while getting this certification I was also getting Red Cross CPR/ AED/ First aid certified. While working as a lifeguard during the summer I also taught a three week pre-school introduction dance class. In the class my dancers learned about the importance of friendship, responsibility, and manners. I taught them basic dance technique, please and thank you, sharing games, and embraced their individuality. Into the school year I Read more was offered a job in the same class, unfortunately had to deny due to my class schedule. However, over the summer I had met a family with a two year-old at the pool of the country club I was working at. I bonded well with their family and they offered my a babysitting job for last minute date nights and late night military balls. I kept Johnny around three times a month for five months. During this time Johnny and I played games, read countless books, and also learned how to care for the house dogs. He would attempt to feed the dogs. This usually ended up in me sweeping the food he had spilt on the floor. I adored my time with the Whitby family, and was sad to say my goodbyes when I graduated. In my work experience I have learned the importance of connection with those around me. I am working towards a dance degree, with my dancing background many see a performer, a bun head, but through out my nine years dancing there are many things I have learned aside form my technique. These include, time management, team work, responsibility, and dedication. Because I started dance when I was nine I learned quickly the importance of punctuality. If class starts at 5:15, I needed to be at the studio at 4:45 to allow me time to stretch and warm up to be prepared for class. I could ramble on about the skills and adoration I have for the art form, but I digress.
