I am a responsible and charismatic 31 year old, who truly enjoys caring for children and engaging them in learning. About my background - I recently graduated with a Masters degree in Speech Therapy at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. I've moved to the Atlanta area for a full-time job, but am interested in taking on some occasional childcare work as an additional source of income and also apply by knowledge in childhood language development. Prior to starting my program, I worked in advertising sales at Google for 3 years in San Francisco and before that, spent a year as an English teacher in a small town in Ecuador, where I taught basic and advanced English to children ages 6-13 and adults, as well as lived with an Ecuadorian host family who had young children. I am fluent in Spanish and enjoy the opportunity to speak! I Read more received an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University's School of Education and Social Policy. I have lots of experience and interest in working with children! As far as my babysitting philosophy, I think that having a babysitter should be a fun and special time for kids - a unique opportunity for them to receive some extra attention that busy parents cannot always provide, and to have a new person for them to interact with and learn from. When I am with kids, I try and channel their excitement and energy for the new face into some type of active learning. I am a responsible, mature person, but in a lot of ways I am also young at heart, and I really enjoy engaging in games and activities with kids. I am not afraid to get my hands dirty with fingerpaints or cooking, or get down on hands and knees to help them build a fort or style a doll's hair. I love being outside and enjoy taking kids to parks or the playground whenever possible. I have been babysitting for kids of various ages for about 14 years. In college, I had several consistent jobs, one of which was for three young boys, one of them an infant, all of them diagnosed with autism. I feel comfortable sitting for several children at the same time, and for children of any age. I have reliable transportation, references, and a flexible schedule.
