As soon as I could become Red Cross certified to babysit at the age of 12, I have been babysitting. Throughout middle school I watched two children regularly, usually without friends but occasionally they would each have a friend or two over and I would have to watch them all. When I got to high school, I began babysitting every weekend for a local store owner. She had one daughter and if she had a friend with children come into town to visit then I would watch the two girls. In the beginning of Autumn in 2012, I began watching a 10-year-old boy with special needs. I watched him Monday-Friday and occasionally on weekends; I would pick him up from school, take him to his drum lessons and tutoring, and do other miscellaneous things for him or the family (run errands, go to the park, ect.). I enjoyed working with Read more him on a day to day, giving me a strong passion to work with kids daily. I would help him with his homework. I watched him for about year until I had to leave for college and move to Charlotte.
