Hi, my name is Jameka. I am 28 years old from Niagara Falls NY. I have my associates and bachelor’s degrees and I am currently taking classes in hopes of becoming accepted into a local PA (physician assistant) program. I just moved to Charlotte, NC with my family. My dream has always been to work in the medical field as either a MD or PA in women’s health or pediatrics. I have always had a passion for working with children and have been babysitting since the age of 13. Besides my sister (who is 6 years younger), I would frequently babysit my friends children, relatives and children at my church. Before moving here to Charlotte about 2 weeks ago, I was a Sunday school teacher for the primary children ages 3-5 years old. I have taught that class since I was 20 years old , teaching 2nd and 3rd Sunday’s. Read more Before I became a teacher, I would volunteer in the nursery department a couple times a month. A lot of members at my church would frequently say they’re surprised I don’t own a daycare because of how much I gravitate to children and how they seem to always gravitate towards me. My degrees are in liberal arts and science and bachelors in anthropology but I would always find a way to add a child development course into my schedule just because I enjoyed them so much. My work history has also given me experience with children because I’ve worked in a children group home for 4 years and also for a non-profit where we serviced adolescent and adults with mental and developmental disabilities. I have been certified in CPR and taken several trainings on working with children birth to adolescent. I really enjoy interacting with young children because of how pure they are at heart. Children bring a love and happiness that’s indescribable. I love to teach them and work on different arts and craft activities but besides all of that, they teach me so much. Especially about how to appreciate the small and simple things in life. My younger sister was a teacher’s assistant and often times I would find myself making snacks for the children in her class and finding different activities they could work on. It is truly something that brings me joy.
