I currently stay at home with my 18-month old daughter, but I am looking for part-time work that would allow me to bring her along. My professional background prior to becoming a mother includes experience in education, retail, and the medical field working with a variety of populations. My highest level of education earned is a master's of teaching in Special Education. I taught for 6 years at an alternative school in Charleston working with elementary aged children with severe emotional disabilities. When I held this position, I planned and implemented lessons plans in 5 core subjects, as well as served as a curriculum team leader, mentor teacher, and school representative at district meetings. I was a district-wide teacher of the year nominee during the 2009-2010 school year. While I considered this rewarding work, the pay was not enough for the amount of personal time and effort I seemed to Read more constantly be putting towards the job. I resigned, worked a much less stressful job at Trader Joe's for 8 months before joining the Medical University of South Carolina as a clerical worker in the cancer center. Despite my varied working experience, I am confident my best skills and gifts are demonstrated while working with children. I am seeking a regular nanny/babysitting gig 2-4 days a week for approximately 20-30 hours total, ideally in my home with my daughter present. I offer structured activities including circle time, arts and crafts/hands-on activities, storytelling, and outings to local parks and other activities. I feel my daughter's participation is dually beneficial in that all children involved can gain social skills as well as speech and language development.
