I am 23 years old, and currently finishing up my bachelors degree in Human Development and Child Studies, as well as Early Childhood Education, due to me double majoring. Prior to attending East Carolina University, I was a babysitter from the time I was 13 until currently. The children I cared for ranged in ages from a 4 month old being the youngest, and a 13 year old being the oldest. I typically care for 2 to 3 children at a time, but I also have cared for 8 or more children at once before. While being actively engaged in the childcare program at ECU, I was able to complete my observation/ practicum hours at the campus daycare. This is when i realized that children work more efficiently, and confidently when they have a basic daily routine that they are comfortable with. I was also privileged enough to complete my Read more student teaching at East Greenville Elementary in one of their 2nd grade classrooms. While there, my students and I would engage in some scientific activities, that were fun, educational, and relevant to the content they were learning at the time. I love caring for children, and I have since I was 10 years old. However, now I am pursuing a career in the childcare field, and aspire to get a job working with children in the meantime.
