I'm the mature nanny, that comes with all Read more the experience you wish the college girls had. I've been there, done it, seen it, and dealt with most everything. My calling has always been caring for people, but children is my specialty! I love children and interacting with them. At the same time I know when I have to be the adult and use various forms of discipline. Discipline, sounds so harsh, well it doesn't have to be. I use redirection, distraction, time-outs, positive reinforcement and a good old fashion sit down & talk and sometimes they just need a hug. Sometimes bad behavior just comes from a child having a bad day and they just need that hug and someone to talk to, and I can do that. Children also need a structured schedule/environment which also helps prevent chaos. I believe in getting outdoors and doing things, parks, library, museums, etc. Finding the right nanny can be so challenging, as it is for the nanny to find the right family. Keep in mind not every nanny is Mary Poppins, but we try! Parents ask what do I want, well ideally, A family I can feel like I'm part of. Communication and appreciation, and respect is best. I would like to have but I know it’s hard to find; A position that can provide 2 weeks paid vacation, 1 week sick/personal & paid holidays and most important a back up sitter just in case. **Currently w/a family of almost 2 years previous family was 5 years. My current situation is changing so it's time for a new family. In consideration I would like to be able to give a 30 days notice if at all possible.**
