My name is Tammy Guthrie. I was a stay-at-home mom for 15 years, and homeschooled for 8 1/2 of them. For the past 3 years, I have worked full-time as a private homeschool teacher/nanny for a family with 4 children. The children have now reached middle and high school levels and will be attending private school next year. I am hoping to continue educating and caring for children as a nanny with another family. I am available to begin work with another family the first week of June. A little about myself...my educational background is in Counseling and Child and Family development (graduate degree). Prior to being a homemaker, I worked as an outpatient therapist for children and families providing parenting classes for my clients as well. I enjoy camping vacations with my family, whole foods cooking/baking, cake decorating, and singing on my church's Praise Team.  As a nanny, I Read more would love to create a "preschool-type" learning environment in which learning is through discovery and hands-on opportunities. For infants, I would design our day with activities based on goals you and I have discussed regarding important milestones that need to be reached. For toddlers/preschoolers, I enjoy designing the day around letter/color/shape themes-of-the-week utilizing arts/crafts, music, reading, nature walks, and field trips. As a homeschooling family, we see learning as a lifestyle not as something that occurs during certain hours of the day. I love passing on this love of learning to other children.
