Hello y Hola! I'm studying to become a speech therapist at UNCG. My experience with children spans from the clinic to the home and the classroom. Most recently, in California, I worked with children who have autism through the DIR/ Floortime approach. Before that, I taught Art to children of all ages in some of the bilingual schools in Miami. I've worked as a developmental interventionist, camp counselor, reading tutor, babysitter and art teacher. As you can see, I love to work with children! As a caretaker, I'm not just a lot of help, but also lots of fun! I've assisted with meal preparation, homework, speech and language development, diaper changes, play dates, grocery shopping, school pick-up, zoo visits, and more. I come from a Latin background in Miami so if you wish to continue the tradition of speaking Spanish to your child, or if your child needs Read more a Spanish tutor, I could be of assistance. Instead of thinking out loud, I may sing out loud while multitasking, so consider yourself warned! I also like to cook and try new things. Surprisingly, the concoctions that I keep from overcooking are quite edible. I love to learn about new cultures and teach children when I can. I once designed a summer art program on the "Around the World" theme where we made arts and crafts from different cultures. This was done at a historical museum where I also gave them tours on our breaks from arts and crafts. I was also a teacher's aid for a toddler painting class which was quite fun and tactile. Most of the paint ended up outside of the paper so, I wouldn't recommend doing this at home. In short, feel free to contact me to make art, sing off key, cook, and/or dress the dog like fairy...whatever makes the children happy. :)
