While I don't have any official certifications or training, I have babysat my sister with severe autism for a majority of my life. For a long time, she was unable to form full sentences and was comparable to a toddler with her capabilities. Now, she can form full sentences but is still otherwise like a toddler with tantrums, whining, and the adorable moments that make everything worth it. From age 13, I would babysit her for hours when my parents went on dates or were running errands. As I grew older, I began to watch her for full days while my parents were at work during the summer. I also began to take over more of her caretaking even when my parents were home to the point where I would be jokingly referred to as her third parent. Now at 18, I've developed a sense of patience, minimal moments of Read more anger, and strong feelings of responsibility that have taken years to hone. I want to look after children to provide their parents some relief because I know that as I was growing up, my parents would sometimes hit their limits and I know it meant a lot to them when I would step in to help them, no matter how minor it may have seemed to me. Whether it be for work or for some time to yourself, I'm willing to help out with your children. I understand that it may be difficult to hire an 18 year old and entrust your children with them, but my age allows me to connect with your children moreso than individuals who are older. While I am mature, I do quite enjoy childish activities like games, arts and crafts, and other similar activities. P.S. if your children like video games, tell them that their babysitter would love to play with them or help them sometime!
