Hello, I'm Ms. Kinsey! Why Ms. Kinsey you ask? Well, as a preschool teacher most of us go by our first names because they tend to be easier for smaller kiddos to pronounce! I've worked in preschool and childcare since July of 2016 where I began working as a substitute part time teacher at St. John's Learning Center in Waynesville. Within a year of working in a childcare/preschool setting I fell in love with the job and wanted to make a go of it as a career. The mixture of being able to care for and teach children fills my heart! Messy faces, first words and steps, ABCs and nursery rhymes, the light bulb look when a child grasps a concept for the first time, it all fills my soul with happiness. I enjoy arts and crafts and outdoor play. I'm a few credits short of my second Associates Degree Read more and plan on going back to Haywood Community College in August to finish my Associates in Early Childhood Development with certifications and transfer to Western Carolina University to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development with a major in developmental therapies, exceptional children and behavioral therapies with birth through Kindergarten licensure. Which is really just an extremely long title to explain that I my dream is to become a special needs preschool or Kindergarten teacher. You see, my eldest son has had a ton of complex medical and developmental needs I was told when he was at a very young age that doctors would be surprised if my son would ever walk, talk or hear. With intensive early intervention therapies, an awesome preschool and many specialists my now five year old is walking, talking, and communicating awesomely! This starting my passion into the developmental therapy world. Because nothing is truly inacheiveable if you have a team of motivated and compassionate people helping a child meet their goals. Due to covid-19 I have been out of a preschool setting since March of 2020. I've been helping my five year old distance learn in Kindergarten, and recently brought another son into the world a couple weeks ago! For a short time I was working at Haywood Vocational Opportunities sewing personal protective equipment (isolation gowns) for BVI to help supply local medical needs and the supply need of North Carolina for personal protective equipment. Due to a high risk pregnancy with complications I resigned to better manage my health and focus on helping my eldest child distance learn and coordinate his developmental therapies.
