I have been an elementary school teacher for 13 years. 9 of those years I was a classroom teacher and the remainder as an elementary school librarian. As a librarian, I teach and work with 900 students in K-5th grade to promote a love of reading and finding new information. I am, originally, from Western NC. I have a degree in Elementary Education from Appalachian State University and a Master's in Library Science from ECU. I also have a certification in gifted education. I originally began courses to be an art teacher with certification in instructional technology. Previously, I have worked as a camp counselor at both day camps as well as residential camps. I have helped coach reading teams and speech contestants. I love children and enjoy taking children on field trips to museums, story events, hands-on learning stations, etc...I believe consistency is important as well as dependability and Read more flexibility when working with children. While my husband and I have no children of our own, I love to play with kids, do art projects, act silly, and read with kids. I have always helped friends with babysitting as well as family members. I grew up helping take care of cousins, nieces, nephews, and an adopted younger brother. While I love animals, I am, unfortunately, allergic to animals with fur. I am not a smoker(allergic). I am offering the option as a part time babysitter after school hours, on holidays, and weekends. I can come to your house or mine. I live in Maysville with 5 acres of land, a large deck, and wifi. I drive 45 minutes per day to work-one way. I am not affiliated with military so I can't come on base. I am completely comfortable with cleaning, changing diapers, fixing meals, etc... I am getting this position to supplement my income with money for summer bills while doing something I already love to do-working with kids.I am willing to work anywhere in Onslow County but I will also consider Jones and Carteret County. I am completely willing to complete a background check of any kind if it's required.
