I became a caregiver and babysitter soon after relocating back to NC from CA a little over 6 years ago. My oldest sister had just had her first child, and I being in a supportive capacity to my own family, jumped at the opportunity to help my sister and grow closer to my new niece. From infant to toddler I cared for Madalynn for two years, before relocating back to Los Angeles in support of my husband's career. It was here that I began my own successful small business, Home & Hound. I became an indispensable ally to 18 very busy, successful clients. One side of my business was organizational/housekeeping, the other and most rewarding side of the business was pet care. A natural business man and bio engineer, supporting humans and their pets for a living was a breeze. Knowing that these distinguished individuals trusted me with the most Read more intimate space and beloved pets, afforded me the opportunity to fully realize not exactly WHAT I was supposed to be, but rather, WHAT I was supposed to be DOING; that being caring for others. While juggling care for these clients, cats and dogs, I also maintained an impeccable household of my own, served as executive assistant to my husband and raised our two Springer Spaniels, Lukas and Daisy. Although I made a good living for my family in doing so, I truly missed working with children and being a formative influence on their life. I began tutoring at risk children in our neighborhood for a few hours in the afternoon to fill this void. After a few short years, we found ourselves being moved again for my husband's career and upon trying to maintain the business remotely to no avail, I decided to try to revamp it back in NC. Unfortunately, landing in Carolina Beach, I had the unfortunate realization that NC did not share California's openness for homosexuality and I found myself without a captive audience. My sister had her second child but without proximity, she ultimately hired a nanny to care for my nieces. I was able to capitalize on the rental property market at the coast by cleaning and setting up properties during guest turnover. After an off season we moved to Raleigh. Plentiful references; I can care, shuttle and tutor children, grandparents and pets, cook dinner, fluff and fold laundry, immaculately clean and organize, build anything, assist with most anything but most importantly I will become friend and family. A little late, but I'm starting my career as a house manager at 38.
