Rachael’s Bio

I just completed my Bachelors Degree in Nursing from the School of Nursing at UMass Lowell this December. I intend on specializing in pediatrics with a concentration in oncology. I completed my pediatric rotation at Boston Children's Hospital and my Maternity/Labor and Delivery rotation at Lowell General Hospital and Brigham and Women's. I have always know I wanted to work with children and am very excited to use my knowledge and skill to try and positively influence the pediatric population both within the medical field and outside in the community. Throughout Nursing school I coached swimming for a USA Club Swim team that gave me experience with children of all ages. Some of those children included children with Autism, asthma, diabetes, growth imperfections, sports related injuries as well as ADD/ADHD and Down Syndrome. In addition, I also coach swimming and diving for the Nashua North High School Swim Team. I love being able to share my talents with kids and help them in any way I can. It truly is a labor of love and something I enjoy doing. As for my babysitting experience, I have been babysitting since I was 13. I used to watch my English teachers 4... yes, FOUR children every weekend. Growing up as the eldest child in my family gave me lots of experience with babies and children that has carried over throughout my years. I continued babysitting for multiple families during high school. My most notable position would be a Nannying position I took with a family in my town. The mother had broken her leg in a skiing accident and the father was always away on business. I would come over to their house around 7am, get the kids (4 and 6 at the time) ready for school/pre-school, make breakfast, lunches and dinner. I would take the kids to school, do laundry, grocery shop, make meals, clean, take the Mother to her doctors appointments, run errands etc. In short, anything possibly imaginable that needed to be done. Some nights I would just sleep over so that I could put the kids to bed and be up early to start their day so the Mother could sleep. As mentioned before I have by Bachelors of Science in Nursing in addition to CRP, First Aid, AED, Athlete Protection Cert, Water Safety Cert, as well as all ther certs that go along with being a nurse.
