Meet Gwen

I am a senior in high school graduating this June and looking for a full time summer job. I am attending Amherst College in the fall where I will be playing field hockey and lacrosse. I am an older sister and have babysat since I was 13. I spent my sophomore, junior, and senior year in high school caring for a family of 3 children (ages 7, 10, 12) with a dog and two cats on a regular basis. I cooked meals, drove them to their activities, and sometimes spent the night when necessary. I babysat often but also acted as a mother's helper to their single mom who works full-time. This was an enriching experience for me as I gained a deeper understanding of how much attention and care children need. I also occasionally babysat a family with a 4 and 6 year old. This past spring I worked Read more as a third grade teacher's assistant at Princeton Day School as my senior project so I fully understand the responsibility and joy that comes with spending time with children. I also helped with the before and after school care program (PreK-4th grade). This past school year I was also selected to be a part of the Peer Leadership Program which entails teaching a class of 18 freshmen twice a week. Although freshmen aren't necessarily "children", being a Peer Group Leader requires adaptability, maturity, and compassion in order to successfully organize and teach a large group. I am a very high-energy, outgoing, confident individual, and am able to connect to kids very easily. Although young, I am mature, responsible, and empathetic. I feel comfortable with caring for children in a home, the car, or in any outside setting. I find my time spent with kids to be extremely rewarding and value dependability and patience.
