My name is Merry and I'm a 25 year old babysitter located in Northern New Jersey. My passion for child care was ignited when I started working at the daycare in my old gym. In my time working in the daycare, I've grown to realize how much I enjoy working with children and how good it feels to know I'm able to make an impact in a young person's life; no matter how big or small that difference may be. I believe children of all ages need to be spoken to as adults and treated as equals as often as is appropriate. I've come to find that this has been the best approach to take when working to earn the trust and respect of a child, and this is extremely important as a caregiver as trust and respect are the foundation upon which obedience is bred. I believe in teaching Read more children to nip things in the bud and to always try to make the best out of a situation. I believe in helping the child figure out what activities they most enjoy in hopes to spark a passion in them at an early age, and so they'll always have something to look forward to or work towards. And most importantly, I believe in doing everything in my power to help build a strong self-esteem within a child because a child who is self-assured is much better prepared when the day comes that they inevitably face one of life's ugly truths. While I believe it's very important to instill good morals in children, I also make sure that they're able to enjoy just being a kid. I love arts & crafts, playing games, singing songs, and playing with legos as an adult, so I put great importance on allowing them time to enjoy these simple things. A couple of more things about me... I'm a certified personal trainer (which means I'm also CPR/AED certified) and I'm working on my Pediatric First Aid CPR AED certification with the American Heart Association. I'm currently attending Bergen Community College where I'm studying Psychology (Developmental Psych is on the roster for the fall semester. I absolutely love animals (we have 3 cats and a dog at home), and I have a great interest in psychology and nutrition/healthy living. I have my own reliable transportation. The car is in very good working condition and has only around 20k miles on it. Beyond just babysitting, I'm happy to do light housework, grocery shopping, and cooking for the kids or the family as a whole. It all comes down to what you prefer.
