Hi! I'm Jen :) I have been babysitting since age 14. From age 14-25 years, I babysat & eventually served as a nanny for a family with 2 boys. I stayed with that family since the youngest son's infancy, all the way up to his 11th birthday! For several consecutive years I would also nanny for a week's length of time for those boys while the parents vacationed in Aruba. During college in Pennsylvania, I babysat 3 afternoons a week for two of my dance professors' children (ages 1.5 & 4 years). I was also a head swim instructor at a privately owned Pre-school/Day-camp for 8 years as well, teaching children ages 2-8 years. During those 8 years, I received Infant & Pediatric CPR & First Aid training each year. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology & Dance, and my Master's Level Certificate in General Public Health. I currently Read more work full-time managing a Federally-funded program called Healthy Families, supervising a team of 7 home visitors who provide parenting support to new families throughout pregnancy up until the child turns 3 years of age (Preschool readiness educational program). I also teach new mothers basic Infant/Pediatric CPR, First Aid, and SIDS prevention (sudden infant death syndrome) classes at a local agency known as AHEART Ministry in Atlantic City (All Hearts Educating, Advocating, Restoring & Transforming). AHEART's mission is to provide emergency assistance to needy families & to reduce infant mortality. I absolutely love working with children and families, and I would consider my "niche" to be infants around the age of 12 months and younger. At work, we utilize an evidence-based curriculum known as Parents As Teachers, which provides a tremendous variety of development-enhancing infant/child activities to promote early learning and Pre-school readiness.
