I am a 32 year old female musician and writer from Bridgewater, NJ.  Although music and art are deeply important to me, my main goal is to gain skills in a field that will benefit women and children so that I can volunteer my time in the future regardless of how my music career develops. I graduated from Rutgers University this spring (2016) with a BA double majors in English and Women's and Gender Studies. I also recieved a Certificate in Women's Leadership from the Institute in Women's Leadership Douglass College as well as a Certificate in Creative Writing From RU English Department. For the past five years, I have been with the same family; two fun and energetic boys and a playful dog. I have experience assisting some special needs, helping with homework and reading, cooking for allergies, potty training, and planning/driving to and from many activities including hikes, Read more museum trips, and fun at the many farms and parks in NJ. I had to leave them last year for maternity leave and the boys decided to go to aftercare during the months I have spent with my son. I have been completeing my degree and spending time with my son, but it is time for me to go back to work while I apply for grad school for the 2017 Fall semester. (part-time) This summer I am working on my Child Development Associates as well. I have worked as a nanny accompanying families on vacation, been a dependable babysitter for many families, and have daycare experience. One family in particular employed me for over 10 years. At Kindercare Learning Center, I started off in the infant room and eventually settled into the 2-2 1/2 year old room as a full time teacher. There, I followed a curriculum based on positive reinforcement and consistency.  I had the opportunity to work with developmentally challenged children, children going through divorce, children dealing with sick parents, and children with ADD/ADHD. It was my job to use my creativity and kindness to inspire them, build their self esteem, and teach them basic life skills.  Working in a daycare allowed me to develop my communication skills as I had to maintain healthy relationships with a diverse group of parents and children. It would be great to find a position that allowed me to bring my one year old kid. However, I don't want to limit my options, so this is not a necessity. I look forward to meeting the right family to work with. Thank you for your consideration.
