Hi! I am a very highly trained professional who is in the middle of a career change. This takes time, and in the meantime, I’m free-lancing, and because I love kids – babysitting! I am a 57 year-young woman going on 39-- very vital and physically active, well able to keep up with your child. (I recently biked the entire length of Cape Cod) I dote on my five nieces and nephews. (Two of them are in my photo with me.) While still in elementary school, I helped care for my two younger brothers (as infants and toddlers) and I started paid babysitting at age 12. I understand children's needs and have a lifetime of caring for and interacting with children and kids. I can supply more good references than you'd ever want. This is my professional background: I have been a Unitarian-Universalist minister since I was ordained in 1999 Read more - preaching, performing weddings, etc., and conducting a community ministry of scholarship and teaching as a social scientist, from 2001-2013. My graduate degrees are from Harvard (M.Div.) and Cornell (Ph.D., Government). I also completed a unit of hospital chaplaincy training in fall 2013 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York. What does all this professional training have to do with babysitting? First, I have academic knowledge about children’s needs and development. Second, my work as a minister and chaplain requires very strong interpersonal and empathic abilities – a lot of caring and kindness - which I will use with your child. I plan to become CPR-certified.
