My mother is a teacher and my sister is a teacher, so working with children has always been a consistent and rewarding part of my life as well. I began by working up the day camp system for eight years, eventually becoming a counselor at a prestigious summer arts camp on Long Island. I have worked with children ages preschool through middle school. My camp jobs led me to babysitting for numerous families. I like to have strong relationships with the families I work for and I am still in contact with many of my previous employers. I always want to have a fun time Read more when babysitting so I love to make up games, do arts and crafts or if needed, I can help with school work After I graduated Pace University with a degree in theatre, I have gone on to direct children's theatre at a program that consisted of 100+ students in each musical. I was solely in charge of taking care of all these children and making everyone, ages Kindergarten to 6th grade, feel taken care of and not intimidated by the experience. I am very creative and I always work to set up a respectful and happy environment for the child. My favorite experience working with a child was when I spent every afternoon teaching a child with autism how to play tennis. With a lot of patience and focused work we steadily got him to hit a ball over the net. For him, it was a huge accomplishment and a major confidence booster. For me, working with children is all about communicating respectfully and also raising their confidence by playing the games they want and having fun in a safe environment!
